My passion for drawing both during and after my university studies has made me focus on this medium as means of artistic expression. Moreover, my keen interest in primitive, ethnic and tribal art as well as pictorial sources from different cultures of the world, such as paintings on cave walls, Iranian ancient pictorial arts, Greek busts and sphinxes, African masks, Egyptian sphinx has helped me create numerous collections with these subjects as their main theme. It is clear that because of my interest, understanding the cultural and pictorial roots of Iranian art is of great importance to me, I have studied and closely examined the valuable heritage of Iranian art in different eras.

But my recent works have been mostly inspired by plants and flowers, or nature in general. Proximity to the nature of northern Iran throughout my childhood and adolescence has been a great influence, helping me discover new visual and pictorial elements. My recent works are on canvas and bigger in size – unlike previous works, which were mostly smaller works on paper – enabling me to experiment with different visual and pictorial qualities. While in this new approach my focus has been on plants and flowers, rather than portraits, sphinxes and houses found in my previous works, history and nature make up the underlying themes of my new collection, resulting from my interest in the history and the visual roots of the world. In these works, deformations can be seen in the plants and flowers, which are based on free, artistic expression, and playing on the boundaries of pictorial abstraction
